Today Texas was the site of two events where Americans prayed for their nation and for the families of our fallen. One got a lot of press -- the Governor's Day of Prayer and Fasting at Reliant Stadium in Houston. Over 30,000 gathered to worship and pray. The other had a lone reporter asking questions of a pastor at a church BBQ dinner - attendance about 100 at Lytle United Methodist Church's annual Welcome Home-A Tribute to our Military.
For the last four years the town of Lytle, TX has come together to honor the troops and raise funds to purchase RDKs. Rapid Deployment Kits, a camo New Testament, daily devotional guide, and "Would You Like to Know God Personally" booklet, supplied by Military Ministry.
Today praise songs and Patriotic music rang out across Texas all the way from a stadium in a huge city to a tiny church sanctuary in a small, rural community. Throngs of Americans, from the 30,000 strong to the 100 powerful, sang and prayed in support of our nation. In both locations prayers were lifted for the fallen and their families. In both places Americans appealed to God for guidance, and stopped to remember our great Christian heritage.
Small town America loves and support our troops even if they don't get a lot of recognition for doing so. We were blessed to be part of the Welcome Home celebration in Lytle, TX, a place where our Christian heritage is alive and well. What better way to pay tribute to our troops than by supplying them with God's Word?
Thank you Lytle, TX for sending God's Word to our warriors in harm's way!
May the Lord bless and keep our troops, and comfort the families of our fallen.
Karen
